Welcome to The Games Room

Welcome to The Games Room

Pull up a chair. The fire's lit, and there's a game already on the table.

Every great house has a room where the evening really happens. Not the formal dining room, and not the drawing room where everyone is on their best behaviour, but the one down the corridor, with deep armchairs, a well-worn table, and a cabinet full of boxes that have seen a hundred winters. It's where conversations run late, where rivalries are born over a single roll of the dice, and where someone always insists on "just one more round."

That's the room we've built here. Welcome to The Games Room at Maison Rook.

What You'll Find Here

Maison Rook began with a simple belief: the best games deserve a place in the living room, not tucked away in a cupboard. They should be beautiful enough to leave out, rich enough to play for years, and good enough to bring people back to the same table again and again.

This blog is the room where all of that comes together. Here you'll find:

  • New arrivals and game updates. First looks at the games joining our shelves, and why we chose them.
  • House rules. Clear, friendly guides to how each game is played, plus the variations and tie-breakers worth knowing before an argument starts.
  • Game night ideas. Menus, table settings, playlists, and pairings for every kind of gathering, from a quiet evening for two to a full house over the holidays.
  • Kits and gifting. Inspiration for building a personalised games collection, or putting together something special for the host who has everything.

A Few House Rules of Our Own

Every proper games room has its traditions. Ours are simple:

  1. The table is set before the box is opened.
  2. Good snacks are not optional.
  3. Newcomers are always welcome, and always taught kindly.
  4. Winners are gracious. Losers demand a rematch.

Stay a While

Whether you're a seasoned strategist or someone who hasn't played since childhood, there's a seat here for you. Bookmark the room, subscribe for new posts, and come back often. We'll keep the lamps on.

Now, shall we play?

With warmest regards,
Maison Rook
